History

The Beaumont Farmers Market was founded in 2010 opening in the parking lot of Beaumont’s Downtown Public Library. In 2011 the BFM moved to its current location on College Street. Completely run by volunteers the Market is open every Saturday, February through mid-December. In the past two years the Market had over 50,000 visits from customers, its vendor list continues to grow and we have seen several producers grow their customer base and go into store fronts.

Our goal is to provide Southeast Texans with an open-air market that allows them to shop for fresh, regionally grown produce and other food products; educate consumers about local farming and seasonality of production as well as sustainable growing practices; assist new businesses that sell food and farm related products and who make use of locally grown ingredients to gain entry into the local market; and to foster stewardship of land and community through public markets.

The Market recently teamed with another organization taking a mobile food market into an area of Beaumont considered a “food desert” once a month.
